The will of ringing in the ears ever go away?

Question:

For six weeks I had a "hissing" in my left ear, as if he were standing beside a waterfall. It is bearable during the day, but when I'm in bed, the noise keeps me awake. Now he has started in my right ear, too. My neck and upper vertebrae are fairly tender. My family doctor sent me to an ear, nose and throat, but consultant thinks I might have to live with it. I have a balanced diet and keep fit, go to a health club four times a week. Can you help?

Answer:

The condition you have is called tinnitus, which is becoming an increasingly common problem. The artist Vincent van Gogh was so concerned about tinnitus that cutting off his ear. After working with patients affected by it, I know that those receiving more annoyed by the noise are usually sensitive and often irritable by nature. The point is, rather than focusing on it, the worse it looks. All is surrounded by the sound of these days, but if the noise threshold environmental or noise inside your head down, has to work to control agitation and improved sleep by learning to calm the mind. You will find that then becomes progressively less intense and less frequent.

In general there are two types of sound experienced by patients with tinnitus. One is the steam engine 'Shoosh Shoosh 'type, which occurs in the same frequency as the heartbeat. This sound is authentic, which may be due to plaque in arteries, near the ears. The other type is continuous, often described as hissing or roaring tone that is caused by a nerve impulse generated in the brain's nerve center that analyzes sound. This is like the phantom pain in one member experienced by some amputees, your brain feels pain in his leg is missing, because the nerve impulses in the rest of the limb. Del Similarly, people with migraines often "see" non-existent flashing before a migraine attack.

I think the sounds they are hearing functional alterations are due to the hearing ear () nerve, which originates in the inner ear. This "vestibulocochlear 'feeds on small nerve basilar artery branches, located at the base of the brainstem. This artery is formed by the junction of the vertebral arteries along both sides of the neck and spine cord. It feeds on many cranial nerves (ie those that originate in the brain), including the trigeminal nerve, which is responsible for debilitating facial pain.

My view is that the underlying cause of tinnitus is stress due to whiplash injury, stress, overuse of the computer, insomnia, head or neck injuries, or a lot of dental work in the neck and jaw muscles and become tender, which prevents blood flow through of the vertebral arteries. I think you'll find that if you squeeze the neck of the back, or push the jaw muscle on the side most affected, the buzz becomes stronger. I use massage and manipulative therapy for these patients and there is a dramatic effect after the session, patients often say they have a relief immediately, which supports my idea. Sometimes, chronic fatigue syndrome, low blood pressure or anemia may cause tinnitus by reducing oxygen supply in the auditory nerve.

Here are my suggestions

The sooner you start to address the problem, rather, like chronic tinnitus is more difficult to treat.

Nutrition Avoid foods and drinks that excite the nervous system, coffee, excess alcohol, salt or sugar, food Chinese with monosodium glutamate, ginger and chilies, excessive nutritional supplements, and avoid supplements such as guarana and ginseng. Eating foods that have an effect soothing cucumber, melon, mint tea, chamomile and rose, natural yogurt and buttermilk normal. Relaxation Drink three cups of tea a day for two months.

Resources: Take Ginkgo Biloba 2000, one capsule a day for two months, this is useful for improving circulation.

Take vitamin B complex, a housing a day for three months to support the nervous system, and magnesium.

Massage

Neck and shoulder massage is very important. A neck massage and shoulder while showering or bathing with soap or shower gel to lubricate your hands. Ask a colleague or friend to massage the area for these for 15 minutes once a week (see my DVD lifestyle for details, Integrated Health Group) or go to a professional masseuse. Also listen to the guidance of relaxation in my DVD Style Life.

Yoga Practice Iyengar yoga therapy. The cobra, turtle, half bridge, roll your head and raise the boat are good.

Therapies: Acupuncture, massage osteopath before manipulation and cranial osteopathy are very effective.
