Am I in labor?
I woke up at 3:30 this morning feeling like my period came. I’m 37 weeks tomorrow. I went to prenatal yoga yesterday and had sex last night. The cramps and contractions came and went for an hour and a half, and I had about 12 episodes over that time. I had loose stools twice yesterday, once early this morning, and twice today. The cramps and contractions stopped around 5:30 am, I went back to sleep, and have been fine all day. But now my stomach feels funny again, and the baby seems to be moving a lot. Or is that my uterus contracting. The doctor said to wait it out, and I am happy to do that. I do not want to go to the hospital till I can’t stand it anymore. Right now, it just feels like I have an upset stomach and my period. Totally able to deal with it. But I’m not sure if it’s labor. Any ideas?
One of the symptoms of early labor which no one ever seems to mention is that your body starts to clear itself out, usually with loose stools. Many women think they have a stomach virus, but in reality it’s the beginning stages of labor. Still, it’s almost impossible to say how long it will take once labor starts, so despite these signs you should just keep on doing whatever you’re doing and let things take their course.
